The 9 th edition of this competition in the Marathi language is targeting to reach participation of 280000 students across 19 cities and 625 schools in Maharashtra. the theme for this year's competition is "New India @ 70 and your Contribution".

2015-16

The 7 th edition of this competition in the Marathi language touched 236291 students in 15 cities and 500 schools in Maharashtra. The theme of 2015-16 edition was "Digital Technology for Better India". The city level winners have been felicitated in Pune.

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, and senior leaders from the Tata group, with the national winners of the 2015-16 edition of ‘Tata Building India School Essay Competition’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on January 12, 2018.

The national winners of the 2015-16 edition of Tata Building India School Essay Competition got a chance to meet the Honorable President of India, Shri Ramnath Kovind, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi and got a once in lifetime opportunity to take a tour of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 12, 2018.

The young achievers were further felicitated by Mr. Harish Bhat, Brand Custodian, Tata Sons Ltd at a function held on the same day in New Delhi.

The 6 th edition of this competition in the Marathi language, nearly 2 lakh students participate across 15 cities and 500 schools in Maharashtra. The City level winners were felicitated at City level function organized at Pune. The theme for 2014-15 competition was "Clean India".

National winners have been felicitated in New Delhi on 8 Dec 2016.

The 5 th edition of this competition in the Marathi language, nearly 1.64 lakh students participate across 13 cities and 460 schools in Maharashtra. The theme for 2013-14 competition was "Happy & Prosperous Nation".The City level winners were felicitated at City level function organized at Pune. The National Level winners for 2013-14 were felicitated on 4 th Dec. 2015 at New Delhi. and also got a once in a life time opportunity to see and admire the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guided tour was arranged for them.

2012-13

The 4th edition of this competition in the Marathi language launched in October 2012. Nearly 1.6 lakh students are participated across 12 cities and 400 schools in Maharashtra. The theme for 2012-13 competition was "Science & Technology for India”. The winners at city level were felicitated in Mumbai. The National Level winners for 2012-13 were felicitated on 4 th Dec. 2015 at New Delhi and also got a once in a life time opportunity to see and admire the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guided tour was arranged for them

The 3rd edition of this competition in the Marathi language was launched in October 2011. Over 1.6 lakh students participated across 12 cities and 400+ schools in Maharashtra.

The theme for 2011-12 competition was "Clean and Green Nation".The winners at city level were felicitated in Mumbai. The National winners got an opportunity to meet the President on 2nd April 2013 and also got a once in a life time opportunity to see and admire the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guided tour was arranged for them. The topic was "How can you keep place you live in your home, your school a neat and clean place".

2010-11

The 2nd edition of this competition in the Marathi language was launched in October. Nearly 1 lakh students participated across 12 cities and 400 schools in Maharashtra.

The cities were include:

The city level winners were felicitated in October-December 2011 at Mumbai. The National winners got an opportunity to meet the President on 2nd April 2013 and also got a once in a life time opportunity to see and admire the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guided tour was arranged for them.

2009-10

The TBI competition was extended to Maharashtra in 2009-10 for the first time. This competition in the Marathi language at Marathi medium schools was held across 12 cities in Maharashtra where almost 1.2 lakh students across 400 Marathi medium schools participated. Two regional felicitation events were conducted around October-November where the city winners were felicitated. The national level winners were felicitated by Dr. E. Sreedharan-the Metro Man of India, at Delhi on 12th October 2011.

Highlights of the activity across the years

Started in 2006 with 6 cities and 1 lakh students in English language, the competition grew manifold to become India's largest School essay competition by adding Hindi and Bengali in 2007-08, Gujarati, Marathi and Tamil 2009-2010, Kannada and Oriya in 2010-11 touching almost 2 million students across 8 languages.

In the year 2012-13 two new languages, Telugu and Malayalam, were introduced followed by Assamese and Punjabi editions in year 2013-14 were added, the most recent addition is Urdu in 2016-17 reaching out to 200 Urdu medium schools across multiple cities.

Landmarks

2008-09

The competition took a quantum leap in the year 2008-09 as it moved from 12 to in 24 cities across the nation covering more than 800 schools and around 6 lakh students.

2009-10

In the academic year 2009 -10 the competition covered 36 cities, where almost a million students across 1500 English medium schools participated. The theme of the competition was 'Future India'. Regional felicitation events were conducted in Oct- Nov 2010 where the city winners were felicitated. The national level winners were felicitated by Dr. E. Sreedharan-the Metro Man of India, at Delhi on 12th October 2011. The winners got a chance to travel on Delhi Metro trains and visit the Metro museum, and also got a once in a life time opportunity to see and admire the Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guided tour was arranged for them.

2010-11

In the academic year 2010-11, the English edition expanded its coverage to 40+ cities. The Hindi language version spread its wings to 27 cities and two new language versions, Kannada and Oriya, were launched. Overall, nearly 2 million students took part in 8 language editions across nearly 150 city level competitions. The city level winners were felicitated in October-December 2011. The national level winners for 2010-11 were Identified and felicitated in Delhi.

The theme for the 2010-11 edition was "Poverty Reduction".

2011-2012

In the year 2011-2012, the essay contest was held in 8 languages covering 5000 schools & 150 cities. The theme was 'Clean and Green Nation' and the city winners of the competition were felicitated across the country.

The National winners of 2010-11 and 2011-12 got an opportunity to visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan and meet the Hon.President Shri Pranab Mukherjeeand drew inspiration from his message. This was followed by the national level felicitation event at New Delhi.

2012-2013

In the academic year 2012-2013, the essay competition was held in 10 languages, with Malayalam & Telugu as the new languages, across 180 cities, close to 7000 schools and nearly 3 million students Participated.

2013-2014

In the academic year 2013-2014, the essay competition was held in 12 languages, with Assamese & Punjabi as new languages, across nearly 200 cities, 7000+ schools and 3 million students participated.

The theme of the 2013-14 edition was 'Happy & Prosperous Nation'.

The national winners of the seventh and eighth editions of Tata Building India School Essay Competition got a chance to meet the Honorable President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi and got a once in lifetime opportunity to take a tour of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on December 04, 2015.

The young achievers of two editions were further felicitated by the Tata group at a function held on the same day in New Delhi. Mr. Ronen Sen, Director, Tata Sons Ltd, was the chief guest at the event.

2014-2015

In the academic year 2014-2015, the essay competition was held in 11 languages across 180 cities, close to 7000 schools and nearly 3 million students participated.

The regional felicitation events for City level winners were held during August to December 2015 across different cities in India, the theme of the 2014-15 edition was 'Clean India'.

The national winners were further felicitated by the Tata group at a function held in New Delhi on 8 th Dec 2016 followed by a Photo opportunity with the Honorable President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi and got a once in lifetime opportunity to take a tour of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

2015-2016

In the academic year 2015-2016, the essay competition was held in 12 languages across 230 cities, close to 7800 schools and nearly 3.3 million students participated. The theme for the 2015-16 edition is "Digital Technology for Better India".

The National level winners met the Hon. President of India and were felicitated in New Delhi on 12.01.2018

In the academic year 2016-2017, the essay competition was organized in 13 languages across 200+ cities, close to 8500 schools and nearly 4 million students have participated. Urdu is added as a new Language,City Level winners are being felicitated at regional felicitation events. The theme for the 2016-17 edition is "Global warming and Climate Change".

2017-18

In the academic year 2017-2018, the essay competition is being organized in 13 languages across 250+ cities, over 9500 schools and expected to reach 4 million + students. The theme for the 2017-18 edition is "New India @ 70 and your Contribution".
